I have been a musician since I was very small. I started playing piano on an upright that looked very much like the one in the painting below. It seems I will always be a musician. It's the way I see the world. I have taught piano and voice for many years and I am happy to help other people improve their lives by bringing music making into practise. As Jon Washburn put it when he was interviewing me for a job, "I can see that you're not a fancy musician, but you're a working musician and I like that." Yup, that's what I am. I am just someone who is still practising. And now I'm someone who is excited to start writing blog posts about what music can do and how it can help make sense of the world. I know it can reduce stress, spark creativity, increase divergent thinking, connect people, provide opportunities for vulnerability, and refresh tired minds and bodies.
